How to get to Bora Bora Island?

The flight schedule is changing weekly and the future is unpredictable. For now there are flights to the Capital of French Polynesia -Ā Papeete (PPT), located on the island ofĀ Tahiti with @airtahitinui from:Ā āœˆļø San FransiscoĀ  Ā āœˆļø Los AngelesĀ  Ā āœˆļøĀ FijiĀ

Once you land into Tahiti, you will require to catch another 1 hour flight to Bora Bora Island with @air_tahiti

Where to stay in Bora Bora Island

Staying on the main island of Bora Bora is considerably cheaper than staying on the islands surroundingĀ it. The mini islands scattered aroundĀ are mainly occupied by 5 star resorts.

We did stayed 2 nights on the main island and 2 nights at the Conrad Resort.

On the main island you can find food trucks selling French Polynesian delicacies and some home barbecue setups on the side of the road cooking up fresh fish/steak. These meals cost around $5ā€‘10 each. On the resort, dinner alone costs around $120 per person, but obviously is the highest of quality.

Learn to Free Dive

If youā€™ve always wanted to learn to free dive, Bora Bora Island is the place to do it. Waters are crystal clear, the marine life is vast and most important of all, you will be taken care of by a great instructor.

We had an amazing instructor ā€‘ Emilie who runs @boraborafreedivingyoga . With her experience, knowledge and practical sessions, she taught us everything we needed to know to become AIDA 1 certified.Ā AIDA 1 isĀ
recommended for students with either no previous freediving experience or who would like to try freediving over one day and still get a qualification.Ā

Jet skiing in French Polynesia

On this island they donā€™t allow you to rent out jet skis without joining a tour. Luckily we were able to arrange a private guide for 3 hours which costs approximately $150 per person.

On this tour our guide asked us what we wanted to experience, see or take pictures of. He took us to the best spots on the island where the sea was milky blue and flat, allowing us toĀ rideĀ the oceanĀ at max speed.

Hiking

Unfortunately we didnā€™t have much time on the main island to hike the mountain we wanted to, but thereā€™s always a next time.

The main summit is called Mt Pahia and from reviews takes approximately 6 hours from start to finish.

Enjoy paradise

Relax! We took this time to relax, enjoy and be thankful to experience this island during these crazy times. Heres a short video of our trip:
